Fishing with Todd in the Morning And with Both Bro's In the Evening

Quality first bite

Another Quality Buzzbait Fish

1st Double of the morning

Todd got a bass right away on the buzzbait. Took us a little while to figure out they were offshore a bit in pads. Caught them pretty good once we figured them out. Doubled up three times. 1st time on bass, then multi, then pike. The storm chased us in 5-minutes early It was a solid morning. Should have left maybe 15-minutes sooner this morning.

Only added a 3lber and 1 small cull in the evening trip

5:20-9:20PM East of GOMH, Sully GOMH to Intersection, SSPRO to River
65-72℉, Cloudy, 4-12mph ESE
Very High

Only were able to make it to 10.7mph as we headed out with the wind at our back. Had a little bit of water in the boat from a morning thunderstorm.  We started East of GOMH. Todd got a 3lber right away on Herb's. Steve lost a fish right after that and I thought it would be AWWWWWN, but we struggled to get bit. We mostly drifted to the  SPRO where I was confident there was fish. We would get an occasional bite I should have thrown anchor but didn't think of it. We ended up in the river. We got a couple of bites in there, but not much for landed fish. Got a little over 10mph for top speed on our way back in. We got the wave runner lift and wave runner in the lake before we headed out.

OK Night in the Trophy On Platte/Sullivan

Nothing But Platte Lake Specials tonight
I think I culled 5 or 6 times

3:00-9:30 PM NW Corner to Big Bass Pt, Deep in Guy's to Double Cane Pt, Channel Inn Bay, SPRO North to River Mouth.
70-74℉, PC, 0-6mph SW SE
61-65℉, Very High Falling

Started in the NW Corner of Platte, mostly pike but did get about 4 or 5 bass as well. Made my way to Big Bass PT only landing one of 4 or 5 bites. Jumped across the Bay. Got one bass deep in Guy's Bay. Nothing at Double Cane Pt. I bounced to Channel Inn Bay at 6:15 PM. It was calmer there. Couldn't keep them pinned to start with. The fish were aggressive. Settled on the buzzbait. Lost a big dog because I did hammer the hook home on the strike. After 8 PM I headed into Sully. working the NSPRO shoreline. Got a few more bass and pike. It was just an OK night considering conditions. Just couldn't find a group of fish other than in CIB and they were spread out there. Lots of beat-up tails tonight.

Fishing With Todd On Deer Opener Eve

Todd caught the last and biggest pike of the night

5:00-6:40PM West Point to the old Resort
42-47℉, MC, 7-20mph SSE

Todd came up for his first-ever Deer Opener. He is going to be hunting Jenny's Property. We fished for around an hour. I got the first pike of the trip in front of Jenny's on the Jackhammer. I caught 4 more pike and a bass, that I forgot to take a picture of before I threw it back. I then gave Todd the Jackhammer. I caught a pike on the FireCraw chatterjig Todd had been throwing. Todd got the last pike of the night. We both missed our last bite of the night. I had  4 or 5 that didn't hook up and Todd had 2 or 3 that didn't hook up for the night.

5lber Landed, Dock In, Eye Caught One at Eddy's

5.02lbs Jackhammer/Devil Jr (FC)

Last Trip Todd Got a Bass

I think this was the eve of the Deer Opener.  Steve, Todd, and I pulled the dock out then Todd and I went fishing. I got the 5lber in LSB Northside where I has been getting fish. Todd got a couple of bass on the Jackhammer at SPSI and NPBI. We ended on F Flat chasing activity. I think we got a couple of pike.

22.25" Rage Swimmer

I fished at Eddy's from 10:00 to midnight. Got one bite at the South Jetty it choked the Rage Swimmer. Shined only 1 fish.

Fishing with Steve On a Smokey Night

3.75lbs Bobby's Perfect

Sumo's non-magical brother Buddha
6:00-9:30PM F Flat, Reeds Across N & S, Inlet to Cookie Jar
74-82℉, Haze/Smoke, 2-4mph ENE

Steve wanted to come with tonight, so I stayed close to start hitting the Reeds across the way first. Actually, I started outside the reeds and got a bass on my very first cast on the Blitz Frog. I missed a couple of blow-ups in the reeds. I pulled out of the reeds and got a couple of nice Plake Lake Specials on the FireCraw eBay ChatterJig. I then went and picked up Stever. We went and worked the South Reed Line across the way. I got one Platte Lake special and a pike. Steve missed a bite of two. Then we went to NPLD Pt. Reeds & NPBI. I think I got a 2lber and a pike off the PT, and Steve missed a couple of bites and got a Platte Lake Special as well. Then we went to the center rice in Inlet. Steve got the big fish of the night there. I was trying to get that stupid Snagproof Kicker Frog knocked off my 2021 Frog catches a bass list. I missed a couple of good opportunities that I wasn't ready for but eventually got a small bass against the rice wall. I erased the scale thinking I had taken a picture. I think we had 15-something for the night, so we were getting quality bites.

Morning Trip Running Late/Evening Trip Running Lake

When I arrived at the lake.

7" Frenzy Popper (Bullfrog)

I got to Lake Place just after 5am, when I should have been leaving. So it cost me 20-25 minutes of pre-sunrise fishing. It was dead calm all morning. I went to F Flat first fishing with the Frenzy Popper, Stanley Phantom, eBay Chatterjig, and SBKO. On the way, there was a lot of activity on the surface along the reed edge. Instead of stopping and checking it out, I went straight to F Flat. Had a pike first on the Frenzy Popper. Got a keeper bass on the Stanley Phantom before I got to the dock along the rice line. At the juice, I got a dink, had a keeper throw me, and got the bluegill on the Frenzy Popper. I got a small keeper on the Fire Craw eBay Chatter before throwing the Frenzy Popper the second time. I spent way too long at F Flat because things weren't happening. Instead of running South, I went to Reeds across South Bed. Stuff was getting busted all over the place in both beds for about 15-minutes and then it stopped. I got a few pike on the Horny Toad and missed bites on the Maracker. Eventually, when it wasn't happening on top I switched to a Monsoor Swim Jig. I caught a small keeper on that and lost about 4 bass that buried me in the reeds. (I found a spot that had a pod of bass.)  When I came out on the South end I decided to throw topwater along the reed line. Had several pike swing at the Shower Blows Knock Off and caught a 16-incher just as I was about to quit. I then fished another hundred yards and half an hour longer missing one bite. Before I headed home I walked to the end of the dock and there were a few bass and sunfish swimming all over the place.

2.64lbs/16.?? Yum Dinger (BGum/Org)

11.06lbs for Best 6
I went to the Chiro in the afternoon. Dr. reported tough fishing at his place on Round Memorial Day and getting skunked on Platte this morning. I made the mistake of getting a sub for myself at Redds, mom was making pancakes for supper. Mom was not happy with me leaving to go fishing before the pancakes were ready. I wanted to be fishing tonight by 6PM because of the calm conditions. I was already running late, it was after 6PM and I hadn't left yet. I left for the lake at 6:25 and not happy. I briefly fished out front in the rice. I then headed across to "the dock." Didn't get anything there, but got a couple small keepers on the next dock. I was kind of a train wreck tonight with a bad attitude and lousy casting. I got Yum Dinger caught on a pontoon lift when the skip went through a small opening on the lift 6-inches above the waterline. Getting the Dinger back was a clown show. I aggravated my back in the process. I ended up missing multiple fish after that, frustrating. It was after 8 and I wanted to do some frog fishing in the Reeds Across, but then I thought I should hit the docks on the point, but didn't start with the first two. I got the big fish of the night on the dock I started on and one other fish as well, so I went and fished the first two getting nothing of course. I caught one small bass beyond the dock I started on. By the time I was chucking frogs in the reeds it was after 8:30. There was no activity in the South Bed, which I fished quickly heading toward the North Bed where I could see some activity. I pooched a hookset at the South Bed reed line. Should have been ready for that bite. I had a pike get off along the North Bed reed line. I got a dink along the inside edge and a two-pounder in the cane. I missed a couple of other bites in the cane and couple in the reeds to end the night. I took my time and relaxed getting unpacked after that frustrating trip. Mom's pancakes and the $50 I won from North Star Cash improved my mood as well.

Quick GOMH Check On the Eve Of Memorial Weekend

Had to get out of the house, so at 8:30PM I headed over to the bridge. Nobody was fishing to my surprise so I pulled the rods out and went fishing. 3 boats went into Sullivan while I was fishing that side. I got a small toothy on my second cast on the NE side. That was it for bites. I think I took a few casts off the dock as well. I didn't bring the iPhone.

Windy Cool Night at the GOMH

Got one jumper. Fished from 8:45 to 9:30 or so. 2 Guys showed up when I did and they got the SW side. Thought with the wind blowing in the NE would be fire, but I only got the one fish.

Dev's Birthday Bullhead

The morning had off and on rain. Caught a couple of toothies and 1 small jumper. Got one bass off the dock. Decided not to go out because of rain.

Morning GOMH/ Rock, Bulldog, GOMH in the Evening

18" THE Jig/Minnow (Glow/Pink)

23.5" Storm Swim Shad (Purple)

 5:45-7:15AM GOMH NE SW
48℉, PC, Calm

Warm and calm morning. Thought I might get some silver. Nope just a few jumpers and a toothy. Beautiful moon when I arrived. Don't remember much about the trip as I am writing this almost a week later.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6" THE Jig/wax (Ch/Org)

Went fishing between 3:00 and 4:00 presumably at Rock Dock. Think I caught a pike, but didn't record it. Fished Rock, Bulldog, and GOMH in the evening. Got a couple sunfish at Bulldog and lost two or three fish while bringing them in. Didn't record a fish elsewhere so that is what I am going with. Think Lanter Man was at the GOMH, but not positive about that.

Fishing With Steve Tonight

5.51lbs/25.5 Bobby's Perfect (Sparrow)
5:00-5:15PM GOMH NE
6:00-9:30PM South Inlet, Double Cane, Green Cabin Bay
Conditions: 70's, Mostly Sunny, 2-5mph East Wind
Water Temp: 79℉
4.03lbs/18.5" Terminator Frog
I made a quick stop at the GOMH.  I wanted to see what the water level was.  About half way up my standing rock on the NE side.  I did catch a dink bullhead on the weedless chatterjig.
15.75" Terminator Jig
I headed out in the Trophy for Inlet Bay just before 6PM. Steve called me about 10 minutes into my fishing, so I went and got him. We were fishing by 6:30 back in Inlet.  Nothing was going on in the reeds with pads I started us in.  I missed a good fish way up in the slop with reeds.  Steve had a what I believe was a big pike miss his frog twice in an open area with some pads.  To the NE of this open area is a nice pad field.  I got the first bass (15.75) casting along the pad edge.  I got the 4lber in an open hole quite a ways back in the pads/slop.  That was it for inlet bay.

We next went to Double Cane Point.  I caught a 14-incher there and we missed a couple of hits out toward the starting spot.  At 8:35 it wasn't happening, so I took us to Green Cabin Bay and drifted us in to the juice.  It wasn't long and Steve was hooked up.
16.5" Bobby's Perfect (Sparrow)
Steve and I would have had a double, but Steve didn't hook up.  My bass was a 13-incher.  I played with what I think was a dogfish, but couldn't get it to hit a jig.  Steve and I both missed a couple of blowups.  I took us a little to the South, but when we didn't get a hit in 5 minutes I took us back North.  Steve had a good bass most of the way in that got off.  Then he got the Doggy.
Without Flash

With flash, no smile
Before I could tell Steve to let the bowfin play itself out he grabbed the line and pulled the fish in the boat.  The line snapped and fortunately the fish didn't go crazy and quickly settled down.  By the time I got it off and took pictures the skeeters were out so we called it a night.
13lbs for the 6 Bass tonight.  Bowfin weighed 5.51
