0 for April

I gave it good shot fishing from 7:30-10:30PM, but I didn't catch a thing tonight or this month.  I might have missed one bite tonight, but I'm not 100% sure it was one.  I fished at Bulldog for about half an hour then the rest of the night at the GOMH. I was the only person there.  I really thought the warm temps today would be enough to bring some bullheads in, but that obviously wasn't the case.  It was a beautiful calm night with 70℉ temps when I finally left.  I did have a beaver give me a tail slap on the Se side.  Also had an otter come through before it got too dark.  The cloud cover was to thick for the moon to make an appearance.

Another Missed Bullhead Opportunity

Today was windy out of the South, Sunny, and in the mid 60's.  I went and checked the area lakes and they are getting pretty dark.  I'm thinking Wednesday will be the day ice goes out. It's not supposed to go under 50 degrees in the next 48 hours or so and it's going to be in the mid 70's and windy again on Monday.

I fished briefly fished at about 2PM on my way home from Steve's, nothing happening.  I went back just after 8PM and I stayed until 9:30 or so.  At about 8:20 I had what I'm 90% sure was a small jumpin bullhead hit but not hookup. That was the only bite I got.

One more day to May.

Missed A Bullhead, Plus Area Lakes

Conditions: 50℉, Mostly Sunny, Calm
Right after taking this picture I briefly had a bullhead on. Pretty sure it was a toothy. It turned out to be a really nice night and loons were calling back and forth. When I stopped by the GOMH at noon I saw what I believe was a sucker swimming along on the NE side.

Brief GOMH Trip Tonight

I am babysitting Mack this weekend.  I arrived at the lake place a little after 7PM.  Got Mack out and fed.  It started raining, but it was sunny to the West so I headed to the GOMH.  The rain quit shortly after I arrived.  A couple loons and some ducks. The SPRO didn't look to be completely open.  Platte side was only a little more open.  It was windy out of the North and under 50 degrees so I didn't stay long.

MTW Opener & GOMH Open Tonight

Today was the Offical Tackle Warehouse Opener, even though I did go in there briefly yesterday morning.  Both GOMH Bays are now open.  Loons were calling, swans were trumpeting, frogs were making a racket, saw a great blue heron and a white heron.  A bald eagle was at the dead deer and a deer ran in front of me on 8 on my way to the GOMH.  Didn't get a bite again tonight and I'm now down to two of Pete's minnows left.

Around The Area Tonight

I checked out Bulldog, Rock, and the GOMH tonight.  Loons and Swans were at the GOMH tonight for Steve, Kim, and Devin to see.  I found my scissors which I apparently dropped last Fall.  It was a little on the cool side when I first arrived at the GOMH do to a light wind.  There was a guy fishing the NW side with his little daughter.  He said he didn't see any suckers in any of the rivers he checked.  I didn't catch anything.  Once the wind died it was actually pretty pleasant.

GOMH Tonight

Sullivan Side GOMH Now Open

The sun came out at about 2:30PM today.  I don't think it even sprinkled when the front past over.  Water was up another 4" or so.  I think I saw some fish activity on the surface, but I didn't have a bite.  I put line on the Lew's combo today.  I will say that Tournament MB reel sure casts nice.  I was impressed.  The Custom Speed Stick doesn't have a hook hanger and I don't care for the feel of the handle.

The forecast is looking good.

Where Things Stand Today

I didn't leave the house until right about 8PM tonight.  When I arrived at the GOMH there was a four-wheeler parked where I needed to be to recreate a shot I took on 4/23/13.  So I headed on to the Platte Lake Public Access which is now trashed.  I then went to the culvert where the water is up at least 10" from a couple of days ago.  When I arrived back at the GOMH the people had left.  There was an otter out on the ice on Sullivan that eventually paid me a visit.  A few ducks around, but not as many as I would expect.  Didn't catch anything in the 15 minutes I fished.  Today was the warmest it has been.  The water level is above normal now and rising.  It was flowing into Platte again tonight.  The weather is supposed to stay at or above normal.  I'm thinking ice out in around 12 days or so.

GOMH Tonight

It was the warmest day of the year so far.  Water was flowing into Platte and was up a few inches from yesterday.  Didn't have any bites.
