Morning and Evening at the GOMH Sunny and Cool

17.25" Crawtube

5:15-7:15AM GOMH NE SW
46℉, Sunny, 6-10mph NNW

I fiddled around and didn't get to the GOMH until a quarter after 5am.  As I was getting my stuff ready on the NE side a truck pulled up with a guy and his middle-school-age looking kid.  I caught a few jumpers and missed a number of bites.  Around 6AM I went to the SE side.  Wheel House Guy was fishing on the SW side.  He hadn't gotten anything.  I quickly tied into a couple of nice jumpers on the Cubby/minnow combo. WHG landed a toothy.  There were fish boiling occasionally about 60 yards out from the bridge in the current.  I was hungry so I headed out at 7:15PM.

Steve and I put the dock in today.  I explained what we were doing and Steve did most of the work.  We had the job done in 45 minutes.  We put the Slop Slip in the Expedition.  On the way home I had a surprise visitor, a big mouse, crawl on my hand I was monitoring the boat with.  REEEEEEEEEEEE!

7:45-9:45PM GOMH NE SE
41-50℉, Sunny, 4-15mph  NE

Due to the family video confab, I got a late start tonight.  I was somewhat surprised that there were no cars parked.  There were 3 or 4 boats on the S side with one parked fairly close into the SW side. I started on the SE side.  I got a toothy and a couple of jumpers, no dogs.  I switched to the SE side at 8:30PM. I caught a couple of jumpers and a toothy on the Cubby Minnow combo.  The boat got a couple silvers and a boat out in the mud on the SE side got 4 or 5 of them. I got one small silver. I threw it back thinking I would get another one to take a picture of, but that didn't happen. I left at 9:45PM because nothing was going on.  The wind had really come up when I was leaving.

Skunked On the Full Moon

Bulldog Tonight

Bulldog 20%

Rock 20%
4:00-5:30PM GOMH SW, Rock, Bulldog
64-68℉, Partly Cloudy, 4-8mph WNW

I started at the GOMH.  There was a guy fishing with his kid on the NE side who got there on a side by side.  Before I arrived at the GOMH I went and checked the Platte Lake Access because it looked like there might be open water up that way, but there wasn't.  I guess the open water line was along Channel Inn North Point to about midway to the Southside of the Big Island.  There was some open water beyond the SPSI.  Wheel House Guy showed up as I was packing up.  He hadn't gotten anything on Long.  I dropped something off for Kim.  Rock was fishable, but no fish.  Same for Bulldog.  I headed home at 5:30.

7:00-7:20PM Rock
7:25-7:40PM Bulldog
7:45-9:00PM GOMH NE SW SE
53-63℉, Partly Cloudy, 0-5mph NW, Full Moon

A big muskrat was at Rock, no fish.

There might have been some fish activity just to the South of where I could cast.  I was disappointed that I couldn't draw a bite at Bulldog.  Thought with the sun today I had a decent shot at getting something.  It didn't happen.

Nobody was at the GOMH.  Got to hear some loon calls. I started on the NE side, nothing.  Nothing on the SW side.  Got the lighted bobber out and tried the SE side with the Cubby/minnow nothing.  Went back to the SW side.  Thought maybe I saw a glowing eye briefly and a baitfish at the SW bridge opening when I was looking down from above with my headlamp.  I tried the NE side again, nothing.  Came back to the SW side, nothing.  I stopped fishing a little before 9PM.  Skunked again.

The weather forecast is not what I want to see.  Multiple cold cold fronts with high winds.  I'll probably put the boat in the water on Friday although if the lake open up by tomorrow afternoon their is a real outside chance I will dump it in then.  Man I got to start catching some fish.  These skunks are beginning to wear on me.

My Morning With Delroy

3.70lbs/22.5" X-Rap Shallow Shad (White)
5:00-9:30AM GOMH NE SW
Conditions: 50's, Cloudy with some light rain, Windy NW

When I arrived it appeared that Sneaky C was driving off and there was The Wheel House Guy fishing the SW side.  He got a golden just as I was pulling up.  We talked for a just a second then I went down on the NE side.  The NW wind was whipping pretty good but the North side of the GOMH is protected pretty well from a wind in that direction.  I ended up getting three golden's on the Shad Shallow which I gave to The Wheel House Guy.  He was very appreciative.  I was also catching some toothy's and jumpers.

The Wheel House Guy left so I took that opportunity to switch sides as the action was pretty slow on the NE side this morning.  I caught a couple of jumpers on the Poison.  I put on the Hack Attack Jig and hooked a hog bullhead just as Wheel House Guy was making his arrival.
4.38lbs/19" Hack Attack Jig/Craw Fatty
That is Wheel House Guy in the background.  He gave me a Pepsi to drink and we talked and fished until I left at 9AM when some of his friends showed up.  I found out his name is Delroy, but he will be Wheel House Guy to for blogging purposes.
