2.68lbs/17" Bobby's Perfect (Sparrow)

6:30-9:15PM Intersection to NE Sullivan Access, NW Reeds
72-80℉, Sunny, 0-3MPH SSE
82-84℉ Low falling

We elected to go to the North end of Sullivan tonight. I started at E Intersection Point.  Didn't get anything until we were almost at the shore when the 17-incher hit. I then got a 14.25-incher. Todd came right back with two bass from the same area. We then headed East not getting a bite for quite a while. I then pulled a 12.5" fish from some pads next to a pontoon. Todd made a cast to a juicy looking rice line that I didn' see. He lost two fish and caught a similar sized fish to the one I got. Then we went a long way through the rice/reed/pads getting nothing.  I was just about to head out when I got two fish in about 4 casts. This might have been where Todd had a fish dog him. Maybe it was before that. We went to the access without any more bites.  We then went to NW Reeds. Todd got a pike. I got a 16-incher under a shoreline tree. While I was landing the bass when Todd cast to the same general vicinity of my cast. He asks me if I had cast under the tree? I said yes and right then the 16-incher jacked him. I caught a 12incher.  I then totally backlashed my reel ending my night as I furiously worked to get the backlash out before the skeeters showed up. Todd took the front of the boat. He didn't get a bite and we headed out at 9:15PM. I am glad to report I didn't have to cut the backlash out after working on it for 45-minutes at home.

Started Out OK, Then the Fish Just Weren't Getting It

1.27lber Bobby's Perfect (Sparrow)

6:45-9:15PM North Reeds Across, Cookie Jar Reed Island.
70-74℉, PC, 0-2mph NE
Didn't bring the Garmin

I started at the boat lane in North Reeds Across.  I got the first fish along the shallow reed edge with rice and pads a bit before the cane. Just a 13-incher. I hooked it through the bottom jaw and it bled like crazy, so I put it in the livewell.  Amazingly, it lived and I released it.  I had a better fish get off at the boat from the area where Todd lost the frog.  I got one more 14-inch fish as I worked up the pads/reeds.  A little before 8PM I headed just to the South of Todd's Pond. There was baitfish activity, but no biters. Should have thrown a craw tube some, but didn't think of it.  Next, I went to the Cookie Jar Reed Island. I got my last bass of the night there on the tilapia craw tube. I did get a couple bites from small fish in the Cookie Jar area that didn't get the frog.  I had a couple more fish miss the frog and one miss the Popper in the area where I got my Plopper fish last trip. I wasn't getting anything and the skeeters were coming out so I headed in at 9:15PM. Disappointing trip.

Caught Some Fish After The Rain

Only Took a Picture of the First Fish

76-70℉, C to PC, 2-4mph NW
76℉ Low

So I headed over the South Reeds Across, nothing there so I quickly got out of there and headed to the North bed. Nothing there either. I then made my way quickly across F Flat not finding any cabbage until I got to "The Dock" area and then it was sparse and mostly dying. I did get a bass and pike before I go to "the dock". Got the bass on a Plopper. I got a pike out from the Juice on the Piranha. There was some activity out that way as well, but I only got the one bite.

I then went to the Cookie Jar area hitting the Rice Island first, nothing. On my way to the Cookie Jar, I had something hit the Plopper and get off because I was fighting the troller along with the fish.  I had a good bass on from the pads deep in the rice, but it got off at the boat. That was the last bite deep in the pads. I got a couple bass along the rice edge on the Sparrow and a couple fish on the Plopper over the cabbage flat by the rice. The sun came out. The bite quit and I didn't have any sunscreen so I headed in at noon.

Tough Humid Night

6:15-9:00PM SPRO, CIB, N Reeds Across
80-82℉, MC, 0-4mph SW
79℉ Low

In the first 5-minutes, I had a 2lber in the boat making me optimistic the fish would be going, they weren't.  I had a couple pike and one 14-incher deep in the juice; That was it for bites. I tried the reeds in CIB nothing.  I then went to Reeds across because certainly there would be a few willing biters there. I was wrong. At 9PM I was out of energy and thoroughly discouraged so I gave up.  The boat traffic was annoying to me tonight.

Todd's Fish for the day
5:30-8:00AM LSB, SPSI, CIB, GCB
74-70℉, MS, 4-9mph SSE
72℉
I took us to Loon Sex Bay first thing. I got my only bass of the morning just beyond the point in the opposite rice. Todd got a bass and missed one on the Northside of the bay. I got bit off there. Next, we went to SPSI. Todd had a big pike miss the SBKO.  It got the Sprinker but came off right away. Next, we went into Sullivan but it was too windy, so we fished Channel Inn not getting anything. The last stop was in Green Cabin Bay where Todd got the third and final bass of the trip.  The troller developed issues so we quit.

I went to South Inlet to start.  There was some activity. I got one bass and lost one I probably should have gotten. Had a couple pike swing at me.  It looked better than it fished. I will be back to the area. Ended in Green Cabin without a sniff.

Todd's Bag

6:00-9:20PM Reeds Across North, CIB, NSPRO, Intersection Juice
70-78℉, Mostly Sunny, 4-8mph SSE
74-79℉ Low turning darker

I decided to hit the North Reeds Across tonight not expecting much.  We found active fish.  I had two bass (16,15) in the boat in short order. Todd then broke off a toad on the hookset due to a fray in the line.  That got the Lamiglass Frog Rod canceled until I can get new guides put on it. I got 4 more bass in the reeds (13,13, 15, 15.5) and Todd caught 3 (14,14.3, 13) and was credited with 3 more as they jumped and spit the frog. At 7:30 we left for Sullivan with a short stop at Channel Inn Bay Juice. I lost one that just sucked in the frog when I bent down to adjust the troller. Todd missed a pike in the boat lane. We then went to my hot area from yesterday morning. I got a 3lber and that was it.  Todd got a couple pike. What a bust. Unfortunately, there was a boat fishing the NW reeds where I wanted to go as a backup.  We hit SPSI on the way back, but the troller didn't work.  Todd got the troller working again when we got back. Will be back at it in the morning.

6:00AM-12:30PM SPBI, Intersection, N & S SPRO, Channel Inn Bay
70-57℉, Cloudy to Mostly Cloudy, 3-6mph NW N NE
71-74℉ Low rising

Started at three of the four points only getting a 9-inch bass on the Rat-Ta-Tat Plopper at SPBI. Nothing at the GOMH. I had a pike miss the frog off of the Intersection NE Point. I then motored toward the River Mouth Stopping at the last boat lane and proceeded with the Troller to the NW. The first bass of the morning was a 3lber on the Sparrow Bobby's Perfect. I proceeded to whack them until about 10AM when the bite slowed. I did pull a few fish out of the Intersection Juice on the craw tube. I worked my way back along the SW rice line getting a few more, but mostly missing the bites.  The troller was giving me issues, so I packed up and went to Channel Inn Bay where I got 1 good bass on the Sprinker, but it was mostly a clown show on my part.  I finally got out of there around 12:30 or so.

6:30-9:30PM East Of Jenny's, Dock Across, Intersection
68-70℉, Mostly Sunny, 0-4MPH
72℉ Low

I started at the rice edge East of Jenny's. The rice there isn't nearly as thick as last year.  I had one fish take a swipe and miss. Couldn't get anything on the follow-up. I had something small attack the Horny Toad at the dock and not hook up.  It clearly wasn't happening so I went to "The Dock" across, nothing. I did get a small pike on a jig on the other dock. Nothing out of the slop. I then headed to Sullivan starting towards the River Mouth working towards the Intersection along the North rice.  I didn't get the first bass in the boat until 8:40PM, geez. I ended up landing 4 for the night catching the biggest of the day (17.5) out of the boat line reeds where I got the 18-incher the other night. I also had a good fish come up short of the frog a couple of times along the backside of the reeds on the NE point.

Short, But Good Night

3.08lbs/17.5" Bobby's Perfect (Sparrow)

16-incher that crushed it

Not bad for an hour and a half

7:50-9:30PM Starting Spot Rice Island, Big Bass Point
64-68℉, PC, 0-9mph NW
72-75℉ More rain last night and today so the water level is still rising. Looked like it was up at least a couple inches more today.

I went to the Cookie Jar to start, nothing doing. I made a cast over the flat and missed what hit. I then went to the Rice Island and got two and missed two. The first fish was a 16-incher that I thought was bigger by the strike.  I tried the Starting Hole and nothing was there either. I decided to end at Big Bass Point. I got a couple fish working my way out and beyond Todd's Pond in the reeds and pads. Interesting, I wonder if there are more of them out there?

6:00-10:00AM Starting Rice Island, The Cookie Jar, Starting Hole, 6lb Flat, Channel Inn Juice/Boat Lanes
70-62℉, PC, 0-3 variable
74℉ Low rising and clear

I briefly stopped at the NPBI getting nothing. I accidentally stopped at the Rice Island first. I missed the first bite of the morning but did get a 16-incher from the middle hole. I then proceeded to the Cookie Jar and got the 18-incher. I saturated the area and that was all I got. I worked my way down to the Starting Hole and got a 14.5" there. I then went to the 6lb Flat and 16.5" there and missed a couple hits. I ended the day in Channel Inn Bay pulling three 17-inchers and missing one good bite. I also got 3 Pike for the morning. Not a whole lot of bites, but I can't  complain about the quality

70-72℉, Mostly Cloudy, 0-4 ENE
76-79℉

Started at SPSI and was just about to leave when I had a pick up next to the buoy.   Much to my pleasure, it was an 18.25-inch 4 pounda. I then went over and worked the Rice East of GOMH for a bit getting a pike on the craw tube. I stopped at the GOMH on my way into Sullivan getting a 14-incher on the Poison. I worked the NSPRO Rice getting three fish (14, 16.25,16) out of the area I was getting them the other day on Bobby's Perfect.  I then worked The Juice getting a 14-incher on the Craw Tube. A boat was making it's way toward the point, so I put the troller on high and cruised over there.  Didn't get anything there, but got nailed by the 18-incher in the reeds as I made my way toward the SW rice.  Didn't get the greatest hook set, but I landed her.  That fish put me over 20lbs for my best 6 for the day.

Very Good Short Trip This Evening

4.80lbs/19.5" Bobby's Perfect

3.68lbs/17.5" Bobby's

Dang Pike Stole My Legs
7:50-9:20PM Starting Spot Rice now the area I caught the fish is The Cookie Jar
75-72℉, PC, 4-8mph WNW
75℉ Water LOw and rising up 5-6" since Saturday when we got 4-inches

The Kia wasn't available tonight and I forgot to bring my rain gear which means I was down my headlamp and writing pad.  The one I had in the boat was waterlogged even though it was in a sealed plastic bag, not sure how that happens.  En route, I decided to go the Starting Spot Rice Edge.  On about my 10th cast, I got a 12.5" bass on the Sparrow Bobby's. A few casts later I had the 17.5" truck the Sparrow. I got a good look at the fish when it hit, so I was thinking 4lber the whole time.  Was disappointed it was only 17.5" long.  That fish had big shoulders and a gut.  A fish that actually weighed heavy for its length. I missed one other good bite in the area.  I got blown down the rice line and had a few pike snap at me, but no more bass. One pike stole the Sparrow's legs then my Texas Rig when I pitched to it.

At about 9PM I headed back and fished double cane back to the rice/reed edge. I was just about to pull up stakes at 9:20 when the big girl hit. I was so stoked.  Great way to end the night.
