Todd wanted to sleep in, so he didn't go out this morning. Started at SPSI. On the second to last cast with the Bubble Walker 128, I got a 14.75" bass, so I threw the 128 for 10 more minutes, not getting a bite. I then started flinging the Pompadour for the first time this year. Got 13.75" on that. I missed a bite and got a 14" on a red shad craw tube. All the bites came out by the buoy. Spend 15 to 20 minutes too long here again.  I then went to the first boat channel in Channel Inn Bay and worked my way South. Got the 17-incher there. I then hopped across to the rice and pads East of GOMH. I lost a good hit on a pad point.  So I tried the next few and got the 18" off of one of them. Then I headed to Rice Point of the Intersection. I got two Platte Lake Specials there and missed a couple bites as well. I also got a Platte Special at the final boat channel. I did quickly try the Intersection SW & NE but only had a swirl.

I started on West Point getting a pike off of the dock to the east of the juice dock on the Jackhammer.  I then got 3 bass off of the juice dock on the bone Shower Blows 105 and also had one fish miss it as well.  I then tried the pad dock and didn't get a hit, so I was off the Channel Inn Bay.  I went to the pads north of the rice point.  There was so action up shallower so I made my way that direction.  I got two bass including the big one of the night off of the same spot on a brown Ish's Frog.  I also missed a couple of bites in the junk  At a quarter to seven I made my way out of the junk to the rice point.  Didn't get anything, so it was off to SPSI and I didn't get a bite there either.  SPBI was next and I got a 15-incher there on the bone Shower Blows.  Also had a good fish boil on it but not hook up. NPBI was a disappointment, not even a sniff.  I went to F Flat and got a couple of dinks on the Shower Blows and the Pompadour.  It was another really nice night to be out.  Had a couple skeeters bother me, but that didn't last long.

Ok Night, Lost a Few That Felt Good

Due to having to get the flu shot I got out on the lake later than I wanted too.  It was dead calm and warm.  I decided to skip West Point and went straight to the North Point Big Island. I got the 16-incher on the Pompadour after losing the first fish to hit it.  A fish hit something out on the flat to the South so I went to investigate.  Had a pike strike at me. I went back to the point and caught a couple of dinks on the chrome Shower Blows.  Then I headed to Big Rice.  Sure enough, fish were in the area I thought they might be in the pads and sparce rice.  Unfortunately, a bunch of them were pike and the bass were just 14-inchers.  At 6:45 I headed to NPBI.  I got one 4-incher there on the Jackhammer.  I lost a good feeling fish on both the Grassmaster Jig and Craw Tube.  I then headed to SPBI where I jumped off two good ones on the Pompadour.  I also dropped a fish on the Shower Blows.  I caught a couple of dinks on the Shower Blows.  I went to SPSI and got nothing.   I then went to the GOMH hoping I might get some gold.  I got a 3lb jumper instead.  No glowing eyes in the tube.

I arrived at the lake place at a quarter to six.  I knew from the radar that a small isolated storm was approaching at a snail's pace.  I got my gear in the boat hoping it might dissipate.  It didn't and I didn't get out fishing until 7:30PM.  I'm pretty sure this squall put us over an inch for the day. The winds were fairly light when I got out.  I chose to go start at the start of the rice East of Jenny's.  There was baitfish activity out on the flat, but I couldn't raise anything there or in the rice.  I did have a small pike hit in front of Jenny's that got off on the way in and I had the Sexy Blitz get bit off in the junk just West of Jenny's.  I made a move to the Reeds Across, but the wind had come up and it was unfishable with topwater.  I made a last desperation move to the North Point Big Island and I got the 17-incher there.  The wind really started howling as I packed up to leave.  I'm lucky I didn't lose my yellow tint sunglasses.  Fortunately, they fell into the boat.

I started at West Point.  I got a dink off of the pontoon lift on a Neko Yum Dinger.  I then had Sneaky Fitch disappear my orange Shower Blows Knock Off. I was like "why can't I see it? Am I hung up on a weed?" Nope, it was Sneaky Fitch.  I had a fish miss me over by the tree.  I then went to NPBI.  I paused the Pompadour and was going to adjust the trolling motor when the big one of the morning smoked it.  I then missed one on the Pomp.  I got a 14.5-incher on it a couple of casts later.  I threw the Piranha 2 for a few casts and got 16-incher on that.  I then moved to the SPBI.  Didn't get a bite.  I went to SPSI and got a dink quite a way beyond the point on the SBKO.  I went across and worked the Rice/Pads East of GOMH and didn't get a bite.  I then worked Channel Inn Bay.  Had a couple pike take the Blitz and missed one blowup in the rice.  It was dead so I called it a day at 9AM

I got a later start than I should have.  I went straight to the Deep Melon Patch where Todd and I started that one morning.  The Deep Melon Patch is an area that was literally unfishable last year because it was so weed-choked.  I didn't have much luck to start and there wasn't any activity around me.  I moved my way to the East and there started to be some activity.  First fish to hit the Blitz was a pike.  I got the first bass on the black Blitz around 7:20PM; It was the three-pounder.  I then had 16-incher miss the Blitz, but I got it on the Yum Dinger.  I then got into an area with some pike.  I got a 16.25" on the black Blitz that revealed its location to me.   I had a fish miss when the frog landed on a pad.  I pulled it off and a total tank lit me up.  I had it moving toward me, but it muscled me into a pad root and got off.  Don't know if it was a dog or bass, but it was a big fish.  I didn't think to put a waypoint down, doh.  That was my last bite of the night.

Longest day I have spent on the water in years, but I never got tired.   I had enough water to drink and temps were comfortable so I just kept at it.  First stop was the South Point of the Small Island.  I got one dink there on the Pompadour.  Then it was on to the river mouth.  I just got done telling myself to be ready for a hit.  When a fish did indeed hit and I wasn't ready for it.  Putz move for sure.  Nothing beyond that was going on in the river mouth until  I got a little way in.  I traded off small pike and 14-inch bass along the southern shoreline on the Sparrow Bobby's Perfect Frog.  I then got a couple bass and had some spectacular misses on the FishingSir Vixen knock off along the northern shoreline.  That was about it until I got to the bulrushes where I developed a case of the misses on the Bobby's Frog.  Finally, I got 15-incher, then got on to missing fish again.  When I got down by the dam I got a couple on the FishingSir.  I missed a couple fish coming back out on the Bobby's.  I got a 15-incher on the craw tube which I didn't stick with because I wanted those frog blow ups which came, but I missed again.  

It was now 11AM and I was finally out of the river into the SPRO.  I got a 16-incher on the Bobby's then lost an even bigger fish on the next cast.  That got me sucked into the rice where I caught a couple more on the Bobby's and a fish a piece on the black Mad Maxx, bluegrass Mad Maxx, LiveTarget Frog. At about 1:30 I had to get out of that rice.  I decided to hit the SW corner of the intersection and missed a couple of hits on a frog.  I got a dink over by the reeds and cattails and got 15.5" in the reeds over by the log in the rice on the Terminator Frog Jr.  Lucky to get that fish.  I backlashed the cast and was just about to start pulling it out when the fish blasted the frog. I immediately clicked the reel in gear and laid the wood to the fish.  The NE intersection is the most beautiful bassy looking water on the lake, but there was nothing in it that wanted my topwaters today.  Saw a lot of fry swimming around though.

15.5" Toadrunner (Sunburn)

It was now about 3PM and I was headed in when I decided to head to the North End.  There I beat my head against a wall with frogs from East of the Starting Spot all the way to Double Cane.  A lot of fry in the rice here as well.  I had a good fish bury me in the reeds off of Double Cane Point on the Toadrunner and I got a 15.5-incher on it there as well.  I finally put the topwater down and caught my biggest fish of the day out of the reeds and cabbage on the back side of Double Cane on a craw tube.  I missed one solid bite that I never set on and finished the day when pike destroyed the craw tube.  Amazingly, I wasn't totally fried yet and could have easily fish a couple more hours before I got to that point.  Must be that Mocha coffee Dad got at Rubies Pantry.

We had heavy rains at the lake this morning, so I had to get the boat drained first thing.  That took about 20 minutes.  Then the motor wouldn't start because it wasn't getting any juice.  I took the cowling off and there was a little bit of weeds under the flywheel.  What the ???. I cleared out the weeds and then it immediately turned over.  I put the cowling back on and it started right up.  I headed to Green Cabin Bay instead of across from the public access in a last second decision.

I got that dink on my very first cast.  A couple casts later I had something slash at me and not get it.  I had a pike jump out of the water at me by two guy dock.  Nothing was going on at the inlet.  I could hear water flowing in.  I then B lined to Chuck's Point.  I could hear water flowing in there. I had something small hit me there.  I had a pike come after me in the reeds,  I got an 11.5" bass as I worked down the reeds.  Conditions seemed perfect and there was occasional baitfish activity, but nothing was going on the surface.  I did try the craw tube for a while as well and didn't even have a pick up with that.  I put treble hook lures on and tried outside the reeds briefly.  I headed to the South point of the small island at about quarter to 9PM.  A pontoon boat was just leaving leaving the area as I arrived. Don't know if they were fishing or not.

 I only got this one bite on SPSI.  There was some fish activity, but they were up and gone in a flash.  Probably pike.  I then headed to the GOMH.  Something completely missed the SBKO under the bridge.  Sounded like a pike that launched itself, but I didn't see it.  I then got a 15" jumper on the SBKO.  The skeeters were terrible by the time I got the fish weighed.  I put on my rain gear and threw a few more casts and had to get out of there.

My plan was to get past the islands and then put my treble hook baits away with the boat slowly moving in forward.  I had all but one bait put away when I had to go to the back of the boat to take it out of gear because a pontoon was coming toward me.  Obviously, I knocked my box over as I went to do that.  Just fricking magnificent.  A couple of baits were hooked to my rain pants.  I don't know if the pontoon was trolling or what, but they sure came in close to me.  I was preoccupied getting hooks out of my clothes and shoe to notice what they were up to.  Eventually I got the mess straightened out and headed home.

When I arrived at SPSI, then the camera stopped working

I was pretty worn out today from the beating I took on North Long yesterday.  I did manage to take the girls (Belle, Mallory, and Natalie) out to knee board for a little while in the afternoon. I went home after that and just kind of sat around.  The weather is supposed to get really warm tomorrow so I thought I should get out and fish.  I didn't get to the lake place until about 7:40 . Per usual I had to get all my gear in the boat and also get the battery in the boat for the trolling motor.

With the East wind I decided on Loon Sex Bay with the plan to hit SPSI to end the night.  I was quickly rewarded in LSB with the 15.25 in the picture. I then had a pike bite off the LiveTarget Frog: Thankfully I was able to find and retrieve it.  I didn't retie it on, but went with the brown Ish's.  That got a couple of boils, but nothing getting the lure.  I switched to the Bobby's perfect.  I had a couple of pike hit at that and I didn't hook up with a fish that just smashed it.

Then it was off to SPSI.  I started by throwing the Pompadour and was just about to quit throwing it when a fish hit it, but didn't hook up.  A couple casts later I got a 16" bass on it.  That was it for the Pompadour.  I got three quick small pike on the yellow head Whopper Plopper 90.  Then I got an 11", 15", 9.5" and 13.5" bass on the yellow head.

Last fish of the night was an 11.5" bass on the SBKO black herring bone.

Slow Morning/Frog Fishing with Pete

I took a trip in the morning where I fished at the GOMH from shore and at SPSI out of the Trophy Obviously.  Here is what I caught and on what this trip from 6 to 9:30AM:

Green Cabin Bay Fish

Pete showed up and I took him to the NW area of the lake.  It wasn't really happening in Green Cabin Bay other than me getting one good fish there.  Pete lost a good one on Chuck's Point in the reeds.  At which point he complained the Tatula 7'4" frog rod isn't stout enough to handle this kind of fishing.

18" Bobby's Perfect

I caught this 18" a little ways beyond Chuck's Point as we fished our way to the NW corner.  Pete ended up not landing a good bass. Karma for insulting the Tatula Rod methinks.

Jackall Pompadour Lives Up To The Hype!

22" Bobby's Perfect (Brown/Sunfish)

So I started off tonight fishing out front.  I got this first pike in front of Sherman's.  Nothing down to Beaver Point and then the wind caught me.

A Blackhawk Helicopter flew by.  I then decided to hit up West Point.  I got a 16" next to the juice dock and a 14.5" next to the next dock East.  I also got a small pike off of the juice dock.

From there I headed to the start of the slop East of the GOMH.  I lost the first blow up. Then I got a 15.25" bass.  I managed to land this pike.

Notice both hooks are outside of the fish and the line runs through it's mouth with the nose of the frog caught in it's mouth.  There was some activity in the slop and I missed one good hit that must have pulled BP down by the legs.  I also had a good sized pike come all the way out of the water on a blow up.  Also discovered there is a dead head about a foot below the surface in about 7' of water.  I didn't take the time to GPS it.  I just couldn't get a hit in the slop, so I pulled out at about 8:45PM and went to the South Point of the small island.  I put on the Jackall Pompadour, I almost didn't bring the rod to throw it along with me this trip, so glad I did as it was game on.
