Slow Morning With Cyberfish

35" Loon Plopper

17" Bone Plopper

17.5" Rat Plopper

6:00-10:00AM NPBI, SPBI, Channel Inn Bay, Big West of Access Flat, N Across and F Flat
67-50℉, Mostly Cloudy, 5-12mph ESE
WT: 72-69℉

First stop was at the North Point of the Big Island.  I told Mike where the juice was.  The pike flushed the Loon Plopper hard on the first cast to it, but we didn't know what kind of fish it was until we got eyes on it.  Mike wanted to get the fish back in the lake so we didn't weigh it.  That was the only bite we got there.  Next, we headed to SPSI.  Didn't get a hit there or off of the Flat. Next, we headed to Channel Inn Bay. The drift was way faster than I would have liked. I did lose a fish that hit the Terminator, probably a pike and Mike had a Sprinker Tail get bit off.  I then took us took Big West hoping to find some protected rice, but the wind was to much out of the East.  Mike did get a smal pike up to the boat on a spinnerbait and I had my Zoom Craw get bit off of the Piranha 2.  From there we went to N Across Flat.  We got 3 bass there on Ploppers with two of the fish going over 3lbs.  I caught one small pike and we both had several pike miss and I had a good bass head butt the Rat Plopper two feet in the air.  At 10AM I called it a day.

Rainy Evening With Darth Wader

26.5" Jerk Shad (Crackle)
6:30-8:00PM Lost one at the Harbor Mouth and had a couple of ticks at the North Corner
8:00-8:45PM In the Car
8:45-9:15PM Taking Pictures of Mike and helping him get the kayak on his car
9:15-10:00PM Harbor Mouth & North Corner
Mike had been out bobbing on the waves for about an hour when I arrived at 6PM.  He hadn't gotten any bites.  He came in and we talked for half an hour.  I gave him one of my Crackle colored Ultimate Jerk Shads to use.  About 6:30 I thought it was getting dark enough, so we went out on the Jetty and I showed him how I was catching them.  He went back out in his NuCanoe and a boat started a trolling run towards the Jetty from about a 1/4 mile to the North.  I briefly had a fish on at the Harbor Mouth that hit my Rage Swimmer.  Not long after that Mike whooped and hollered alerting to the fact that he had caught one.  The trolling boat which was almost to Mike looked like they hooked up as well as their progress stopped and started drifting to the North.  Mike paddled in so I could take some pictures with his camera.
This was taken with my camera
Mike went back out.  It sprinkled for a while, then light rain.  Mike caught a couple more fish.  It started to rain, rain and Mike hooked into a better fish that he wanted me to take a picture of so he paddled to shore.  I didn't get a picture of that fish with my camera, unfortunately.  I went in the car to wait the rain out and Mike went back out.  At 8:45 I had enough of sitting in the car so I went out and put my Cabela's Guideware Rain Jacket on; I had been fishing earlier in my Ice Armor Jacket.  Next thing I know Mike is cussing up a storm and calling me over to take a picture of the 26.5" fish.  He was taking a picture of the fish on the measuring board, which sits between his legs when the fish flopped knocking the camera out of his hands into the lake. Adding to Mike's frustration was the fact that he had to net the fish.  Mike's net and treble hooks don't get along too well and the Jerk Shad has three sets of trebles.
26.5" Jerk Shad

The bite had slowed and losing the camera made Mike want to call it quits for the evening.  So Mike paddled into the Harbor and I helped him get the kayak up on the car.
2.49lbs/21.5" Rage Swimmer (Ghost Shad)
I went to the Harbor Mouth and caught a fish on my the first cast from the standing rock on the Rage Swimmer.  I hollered over to Mike who was still strapping up the Kayak.  Next thing I know Mike is out on the Jetty with me asking for a rod to use, so I gave him the one with a Crackle Jerk shad on it. After Mike got situated I went back up on the standing rock and was soon reeling in a cigar that was caught by my stinger hook.  That was the first time using the stinger with a paddletail got me a fish.  I forgot to weigh the little guy.
Smoking the Cigar

14.5" Rage Swimmer on the Stinger Hook
Mike wasn't getting any bites, so he called it night.  I fished my way down the Jetty and got my biggest and last bite of the night at about 9:50PM, which was also caught by the Stinger Hook.
3.68lbs/22.5" Rage Swimmer on the stinger hook
I did try the Jerk Shad for the remainder of the night.  Nothing wanted the Tomato or Crackle.
3 Eyes for me
Darth Wader: 7 Eye's are what I'm giving him, maybe he'll get back to me with an accurate number.

Fishers of Men Fall Outing Sept 28 & 29th.

This 17 incher was caught on Mule Lake with a bluegilll colored Strike King Pure Poison with green pumpkin Craw Fatty Trailer on Friday.

This 28.5" Pike was caught on Saturday on the same Pure Poison at Town Line Lake.  It was my first fish of the day and I was lucky I caught it because in totally inhaled the thing and I didn't have a leader on it. I put a leader on it and caught a few more small pike.  I also managed to catch 3 decent bass.  I caught my third bass on the last cast of the day.  It bit just as Mike Thompson laid the hammer down as we were going in.  It turned out that fish along with my 3 best pike won me FallEE WallEE for the 3rd straight year.

Mike Thompson got a 19" bass on Town Line Lake

Cyberfish shows at the GOMH

Before I get into the report I had a surprise visit at the GOMH tonight when Mike "Cyberfish" "Shake" "MT Bucket" Thompson showed up in his little red car. Man was I surprised to see him. He was on his way back from his annual family outing at Woman Lake and decided to drop on by the "Grumpy Old Man Hole" to see what all the fuss is about.

Cyb arrived a little after 8:30 and decided to join me for a little bullhead or dogfish action on the pallets (SW side). He met GOM Willard and was talking smack about "sewer trout" and how great dogfish are because they are so much harder to catch than a bass. Cyb put on a Cabela's AquaGlow™ Hoochie Koochie Swim™ Shad on a plain jig head and was trying for toothy bullheads, doggies, and walters. He ended up catching quite a few of the famous GOMH jumpin bullheads and he missed quite a few strikes.
While we were fishing together I nailed the Toad in the pictures. Obviously a very ripe 19.5" jumpin bullhead. While we were fishing together I also missed either a nice toothy bullhead or a dogfish (I think it was a toothy) and also caught a few small jumpers. It got dark and Cyb and I called it quits. One downer was that Cyb and I had to listen to this foul mouthed and bigoted dad who was fishing with his son, that baitcaster kid, and making an ass of himself while catching some nice silver bullheads.

As for how the night progressed, I decided I liked fishing the GOMH in my waders and decided to give that another go. When I put the waders on I noticed that the feet were wet from before and there were a couple of obvious cracks in both of the boots. Before heading out I put a new skirt on the "lost jig". I left around 6:40 and when I arrived there was a group of young adults fishing the SE, SW, and NE sides, but by the time I got geared up the NE side was open so I headed down there with a white Booyah Spinnerbait. I had zero luck on the spinnerbait and went up and switched to the "lost jig." I missed a couple of bites, then I tied into a solid 23" toothy bullhead. Willard was no where to be found and another guy there fishing didn't want it, so back it went. I think I might have then caught a couple of small jumpers than I switched to the SE side. While fishing the SE side I got hung up on a limb of the Beaver Dam and things were not looking good for the "lost jig". GOM Bud suggested I walk up on the road and try and get it from the other side. That did not work but I could see the jig was on a single branch up off the water. I played around with it and by some stroke of luck, the jig popped loose and the "lost jig" was not lost again. I got some jumpers on the SE side. Bud commented that I better not have the lost jig on if CO Kuske shows up, but Willard set him straight that the "lost jig" is an effective pike lure. Things slowed down so I went back to the truck and got out a white Outkast swim jig with white grub. I started out on the NE side, and missed a couple of hits than nothing. I went to the SE side and got one jumper. I moved to the SW side and started getting jumpers with a slower retrieve and I was also missing quite a few hits. I had the grub tail completely stolen once. While I was fishing the white jig, the foul mouthed dad and his son "the baitcaster kid" showed up. The Dad started fishing behind me in the bullhead sweet spot and he started getting into the silver and jumpin bullheads right away. The white jig dropped off and so I went to get the "lost jig" again. I hit the NE then the SW side on the pallets getting a few jumpers. I missed a toothy that struck right up close and shortly after that is when Cyberfish showed up.

So on the day 1 Toothy (a couple of missed toothy's) and 19 jumpin bullheads. The foul mouthed dad had 10 nice silver bullheads when we left. Lantern Man was just getting there as me and Cyb left.

A Week in GEM Camp Tournaments

Sunday, June 18, 2006

The Week in Tournaments:

Monday June 12th GEM Pepsi Challenge Tournament Town Line Lake:
The fish were on the feed this night with lots of fish caught in all boats. The winner of the 3 Bass, 3 Pike tournament was Dave Lindmark and the 6 kids in the pontoon anchored by Sarah's 20inch Largemouth. Sara is a girl, duh, who has mild cerebral palsy and retardation but she held up wonderfully for the week and was a joy to be around; Her 20 incher was big Largemouth for the week and her first fish ever. My boat, Rick and Justin, caught a bunch of bass and some pike but no size.

Tuesday June 13th GEM Pepsi Challenge Tournament Mule Lake:
The weather was sunny which makes Mule Lake tough, the fish did bite late in the day. The Tournament was taken by Guide Mike Thompson and his two kids. I think they won this Multispecies Tournament with 7 species: Largemouth, Smallmouth, Rock Bass, Perch, Sunfish, Crappie, and Pike. Mike caught several 4lb class largemouth on docks and a few good smallies on docks and poppers. My boat, Rick and Justin, didn't try that hard to fish multi-species. I caught a 4lb Larry and 4lb Sally on the Frenzy Popper.

Wednesday June 14th Pepsi Challenge Tournament Town Line Lake:
We went back to Town Line cause the fishing was so good on Monday night, but the weather was warm and sunny which made fishing much tougher. Mike Thompson took the tournament with Rick and Justin on the strength of 3 good Bass and Pike. My boat Malik and Dylan, struggled and didn't have much size on either the bass or pike. We did have fun "surf fishing."

Thursday June 15th GEM Pepsi Challenge Tournament Blackwater Lake:
Conditions were sunny with a south east wind with growing cloud cover late, not ideal but Blackwater has lots of bass and fishing was pretty good. The Best 6 Bass tournament was a tie at 97inches between my boat, Elijah and Alex, and Dave Lindmark and the 6 kids in the pontoon. The pontoon won the tie breaker with Rick's 19inch smallie which was also big smallie of the week. Thus my boat was shut out for the week.

Saturday June 17th Fishers of Men Club Twin Cities Multi-species Buffalo Lake:
The weather was cloudy with a slight South then North wind turning very wet. The fishing was tough and me and my partner Tony Hanf got skunked. Buffalo lake appears to be in the midst of a major decline thanks to winter time over harvest, weed killing, and run off. The Tournament was won by Mike Thompson and his Dad with 10 Crappies and a 20.5 inch Largemouth. The day was not a total wash out as that I had Angeno's Pizza for dinner.

Camp Summary: It was a good week with good kids. On to Lindisfarne.

Sunday May 28 BP & Cyberfish:

It's not BP vs. Cyberfish because we were in different worlds a fishin.
We started the day with a trip to Garrison Alliance Church. From there we headed home to watch the Indy 500 and eat the crappies that Cyb caught yesterday. Round about 4PM the adventure began. The plan was to hit Black Bass Lake in Kathio State Park in our float tubes. The DeLorme Minnesota Atlas and Gazetter makes it look like all you have to do is take a road or trail off of 169 to get there. It turned out to not be that easy and we could not find the lake but we sure tried and went down many a false trail.
The backup plan consisted of forsaking the little 20 acre mud hole which we could not find and hitting the 132,000 acre mud hole we could find. The destination was Wahkon bay were the BP would naturally fish bass and Cyberfish would fish panfish and this out of our float tubes. The bass vs. panfish dichotomy made a grudge match out of the question.

I got out on the fish first landing a 14" bass on a bit off "Merth" Zoom Trick worm. I quickly landed a pudgy 10" bass soon after that. Next thing I know Cyberfish is screaming in delight over a 10" gill. I went over and took his pic with a disposable camera Cyb brought along. I headed back to try and sight fish some more of those bass and the next thing I know Cyb is gleefully catching another 10" gill. I didn't go to take pictures of that one.
I was fishing an area where I could see lots of bass and gills, but I couldn't get any more of the one's I could see to go. Meanwhile Cyb was landing the occasional gill. I started casting a Snagproof tournament frog and managed to land a 17" and then a chunky 18" bass. Meanwhile Cyb was landing the occasional gill. I headed west and Cyb headed in to where I was seeing the bass and gills.

The trip West was a dud except for some nice small talk with some shore owners who were surprised to see a float tuber happen along. They even gave me tips on fish location but it was all for not because if there were fish there they weren't aggressive enough for a topwater frog. Meanwhile Cyb was landing the occasional gill, crappie, and a bass. Just when I got back in talking distance Cyb lost a big bass.

Now I think is a good time to interject the fact that Cyberfish was fishing with a telescoping cane pole. How many people do you suspect have fished Mille Lacs Lake out of a float tube using a cane pole? Cyberfish just ain't normal people THAT's FOR SURE! That big old bass got off by pulling the old swim under the float tubers legs trick. Cyb kept on a catching panfish while I toiled for another blow up. I finally got a strike but could not convert even though the fish gave me a second chance. Cyb kept on a catching panfish until dark.

We got off the lake and headed to DQ and that was that.
FYI- Cyb did get out early before church and pulled a 28" Platte Pike while float tube fishing.

Bass Opener

I didn't repeat last years mistake and got up early to hit the PRO where the early bird gets the worm. I woke up at 5:00 and was on the water by 5:35. It was a cool 67 with a bit of a SE breeze already stirring the air. I headed straight for the Platte River Outlet.

Upon Arrival I had several rods rigged and ready to go. I picked up the white swim jig and reddish purple trailer first. I got a hit on my very first cast but it was a pike. The Swim Jig was getting to caught up in the rice and so I switched to a green Zoom Horny Toad, shortly after starting to throw that I landed a 13.75" bass. Shortly after that I landed a 16.75" fish on the Horny Toad, then I landed a 17" bass with the swim jig. I then caught another 13.75" on the Toad and then a pike and then a 12" bass.

I had started making my way into the river at this point and another boat was coming in there with me. I landed a 15" right in front of these other two guys. They proceeded to go right in front of me and start fishing almost immediately the guy in the front of the other boat caught a 14-16" fish. I kind of worked slowly allowing for us to have some separation. I then started thoroughly working the wind blown side of the river. I caught a couple of 12 inchers then I got 2 that were 15-16", this was fishing behind these two guys. I narrowed the gap between us and decided to split.

I went to a semi-protected part of the PRO outside of the river. The slop was thick enough that it was Snagproof Frog time. I started by throwing a white frog and was shortly rewarded with a 16" bass. A little bit later I caught a 15" fish. I switched to a brown Snagproof Bobby's Perfect Frog, I got a bite and broke off, I'm not sure if it was a pike or not. Disappointed I tied on a Black Red Sparkle Frog and kept fishing. I worked my way to the river mouth then headed to the south shore of the PRO. All I got on the south shore was a few hits from Pike.

I then headed into "Old Cabin Bay" to do a little dock fishing except the good dock run was all covered up by parked panfish fishermen. I moved beyond them and started on docks with a black and green jig. I got a few on the docks and missed a few but nothing bigger than 15" and the fishing was fairly slow. I headed in about 11 O Clock. Overall I did alright. Conditions started to get tough with that wind, there were a ton of people on their docks or out in boats, it was a zoo out there by 9AM.

And then I took a nap

I went out for about 45 minutes around 4:30PM. I was fishing docks in our bay with the black and green jig. I managed to get one little bass. Didn't see much activity but a few sunnies. I left my polarized glasses here at the house. I got back to the house by 5:30 and shortly after that Mike "Cyberfish" Thompson arrived and we had dinner. He had been out on Mille Lacs hammering crappie and sunnies. He said he saw a lot of bedding Larry's and Sally's but could not get them to bite. After Dinner Mike cleaned crappie for a fish fry tomorrow.

We decided to go out around 7:30 in the calm area just to the East of our place. I got one 12"bass and Mike had a couple of follows. This area is full of rice which caused the Trolling Motor to overheat and now I have no working forward speeds. NICE! Fricking Minn Kota piece of crap.

Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and more windy than today. Dad will have a look at the trolling motor tomorrow. I have a sinking feeling that I will be using our old trolling motor for at least the first couple of tournaments. I think it will work out ok provided I don't have to fight millfoil or rice. Tomorrow with the high winds and boat out of commission Mike and I may go float tubing on a little lake.

Fishing With Cyb on West Rush

West Rush Lake Report: The Cyberfish secret spot was only good for Cyberfish and that for about 5 minutes. The schools of Crappies really seemed to be on the move today and the action was there for sporadic bursts, the average crappie size left something to be desired too. Overall we had a good time and when the sun was out, and there was no wind, it was a heck of a nice morning and early afternoon. Thank goodness it wasn't a BP vs. Cyberfish competition day because he pretty much cleaned everyones clock. Maybe I'll have to challenge him to a big Crappie Contest at next weeks G.E.M. Outing.

Teen Challenge Wapo WI Openner

Man, this already seems like it is an eternity away.

Friday May 6th:
The original plan was to be there and fishing early but getting my stuff in order and getting there took a while and so I arrived just after dinner. I did get some salad and milk. Put my gear up in the new lodge (room to myself), Dave Villa helped me launch the boat and then took Matt and Nate fishing. Went to the Wapo mini channel which was full of fish and algae. Got to watch a small beaver and I got one small sunny. The scum was too much and we went back to Bear Trap. I did get a hammerhandle on a weed edge on a crappie jig.

Went in, got stuff ready and had devotional time around the camp fire. Got the rest of stuff organized and went to bed.

WI Opener Saturday May 7th:
It was a cool and windy morning. Nate did not get up at 5am so I took Matt and Shaun out instead. We bucked the wind out in front of camp and I may have gotten 1 small bass. Then we went to the South Point spot and I think I got a couple of bass and Matt maybe got one. Headed in for breakfast and was there on time but they started early so nothing was left.

I then took James out and we went to the South Point and fished rattletrap, Rogues, and Crankbaits. James landed this nice White Bass:
Posted by Hello.
I then landed this White Bass:

Posted by HelloI think I may have gotten another small White, a pike, and a couple of bass. On out way in we hit the channel entrance and fished back to camp with both of us getting a few Larry's.

After Lunch I took Mark out (once we got my stuff back from Hurricane Peter) and we had a total blast. Mark was so excited to be out in God's Creation and we got to see a couple of Eagles close up not to mention Mark nabbing his 1st Pike.
Posted by Hello Mark was super excited to have caught that fish.

I later nabbed a small pike and then this cute mini-Ski:
Posted by Hello
Mark and I were mostly trolling cranks and I thought I noticed a pontoon deep in the Balsam Branch which is a wide and shallow inlet to Wapo. Mark and I were trying to figure out if that was Pete with the pontoon, but I thought maybe it was just a docked pontoon way in there.

We stopped getting fish trolling and so we started working the shore line weeds into the Balsam Branch. We got a couple of small bass as we got closer to figuring out that it was indeed Cisco Pete stuck back in there. We fished a bit more than motored back praying we wouldn't get stuck.

We took the wrong path the 1st time and had to turn around in the shallow heavy bullrush mats. Then when we got to them we put together a plan to get them turned and we gave them our battery for starting their motor. We got em turned and they got the motor started but they got stuck either because of the wind some lousy driving and the weeds. Next me and Mark started pulling them out and they got the motor started, but by now their intake was clogged and before they got all the way out of the worst of it their engine was overheating. Hurricane Pete had the brilliant solution of pouring the minnow bucket water w/minnows on the engine. Mark remarked that a huge ball of smoke came up from the motor. Anyway, it was way past dinner and we pulled the Pontoon to a dock, I left Mark to keep the situation calm and to allow me to get up on plane and back to camp faster.

Once back at camp, Villa was out looking and the other fast boat had left. I found a driver and we went to pick up the guys in the van. Fortunately we found them quick and then Villa found the pontoon to tow back. The Van had a good laugh over the situation especially the minnows on the motor part. We also went in and had PB&J for dinner making light of the situation.

My scheduled trip was switched to the morning and Shaun, Eric, and I went out and got a couple of bass, maybe a pike, and small walleye. I proceeded to lose the Gold HJ12 when it got caught in the trolling motor. We trolled for a bit but didn't get nothing. Some jerk cut me off as we were trolling and had the right of way.

Mike Thompson showed a bit before lunch after H.P. dropped his boat on the ramp (NICE). Unfortunately no sign of Mark Schutz and that Triton X.

Sunday May 8th
Since Eric only got a half hour the night before, he was my before breakfast trip. We may have tried out in front of the camp to the channel and then went South on Bear Trap to the Buoyed Point and South Point. I landed a nice bass off of the Buoy Point....
Posted by Hello
It was calm and fish were busting on the surface so we ran back to get surface lures which turned out to be a bust. I got a couple of small bass and a pike at the SP. I ended up losing my Gold Suspending Rogue to a Pike. OUCH! Both of my producing Gold suspenders gone on consecutive trips. Eric was struggling, but did get a couple of fish as we fished the channel back to camp on our way in.
Posted by Hello
BTW- This was an extra long trip as that on Sunday their is 10AM brunch. Eric got several bass in the last hour, but no Pike like he wanted.

It looked like it was threatening rain as Jesse and I headed out at 1PM. Jesse was kind enough to let me take a nap. We headed over to the dam area on Wapo and I immediately got into some smallies on HJ10's.

I then made a mistake and tried to switch up to topwater which they wouldn't hit and by the time I switched back the school was gone.

We fished the dam area and around the point. The sun came out and it warmed up real good. We then headed to the north end and worked the west shore into the BB inlet. As we got further into the inlet the water temps rose into the 60's and I caught some small bass and missed a nice one. Jesse had some bites but missed them. This area was beginning to fill with fish and I told him it would be very good pretty soon, maybe this evening, but I wouldn't run to fish it again this day. We headed back for dinner and got knocked off plane by the heavy wind, I was able to get us back up and back to camp on time for dinner. Jesse was great to fish with even though I don't think he landed anything.

After Dinner I helped get Thompson's boat squared away while Ryan went out with Mark and James in my boat. I then went out with repeat customers Mark and James. By this time some of the TC guys were getting burnt out on fishing or were having success from shore or the pontoon and were sticking with that. We first fished around the camp to the channel and got a couple of bass and maybe 1 small pike.
Posted by HelloIt was a beautiful evening with light wind and warmer temps. We went over to work the smallie spot, but got nothing we then headed over to the pontoon which had been productive again. We started trolling the Wapo area of Camp and I hooked this White Bass.
Posted by Hello
We let our lines back out and immediately Mark said "Fish ON!" and sure enough he pulled up a 20+inch Eye, which I never did get a pick of cause he was so excited and took right up to show off.

They were cooking up the fish and I was pretty wiped out. I went up to bed shortly after having some fish and getting the boat prepped for Ryan to take out.

Monday May 9th:The plan was to take out Eric and Dean at 5:15am but I slept over my alarm and didn't wake up until 6:30. The guys left a note saying they thought I probably needed the rest and they would catch me later. Some caught a carp last night and they put it in Don's shower, haylarious!

I ended up taking out Eric for about and hour and he landed this one right away...Posted by Hello. We got a couple of bass on our way back into camp along the Channel run. Still no Pike for Eric.

After Breakfast my trip was with Ryan and Nate and we went trolling. I got tired and let Nate drive while he and Ryan fished. They got nothing and when we got by camp Nate had enough and James jumped in and they trolled to the SP. I started waking up when I think James got this White.Posted by Hello(Pictured with Ryan holding fish)

I think James caught a Pike or two and maybe a couple small bass and I landed this nice slab.
Posted by Hello

After Lunch Dean and I headed to the North end and fished into the BB inlet. The farther in we got the better the bassin' became. Dean nailed this Toad after a thunderstorm passed over.
Posted by Hello
He was mostly getting them on a spinnerbait and then Spitting King while I was using a swimming jig and experimenting with Horny Toads. Eventually I switched to a Frenzy Popper and started whacking fish like crazy. Dean switched to the frenzy and started whacking them too. We were having so much fun we opted to miss dinner and keep fishing. We headed back in about 1/2hour late after Dean whacked 1 last fish. We had a ball. The water here was in the low to mid 60's.

I got amped on some more PBJ, COKE, and Kit Kats, and Ryan and I headed out to the BBInlet to whack and stack. Unfortunately the camera ran out of juice cause we both got some solid fish and probably landed about 20 a piece, mostly bass with a couple of Pike, mostly on topwater. We were rocking em and missed as many as we caught. The fish were pre-spawn feedbagging in 2-4feet of water hiding in Curly Pond Cabbage that was 1-2.5 feet off bottom. Many of the strikes were very explosive. It was not quite as good as Thompson and I's Bass Go NON-STOPPO at WAPO 2000 Topwater extravaganza but it was close. That is the kind of fishing that spoils you rotten when you get into it. Pre-Spawn rocks!

Got back, had devo's. I tried to encourage the TC guys. We watched the pics and tried to pack up.

Tuesday May 10th:
Didn't take anyone morning fishing, in fact I didn't even organize my boat or put the cover on the previous night. I had to be out of my room by 8 AM. I think Ryan helped me trailer the boat and I got my stuff packed and gave Dave a ride to the NW Wapo access. After the TC guys left, I needed a nap then headed to Bone.
