4/6 DNF

 I took Dad to Urgent Care in Onamia to get his back pain looked into. We didn't get out of there until after 7pm. So, just like yesterday, daylight ran out before my duties as a son did.

 I drove into the cities to pick up Mom at Jeff's. We didn't get back until 7:50pm, so by the time Mom was settled in, it was dark. No trip to fish for me.

 This afternoon, I had an eye exam in Pierz. Came home, ate dinner, and loaded rods into the car. But I was feeling tired, so I took a nap instead. It got to the low 50's I think.

 It was a nice day in the 60's. Between my last PT session in Onamia and needing to be out the door to head to Elk River by 4:30 I didn't get a chance to make it to the GOMH today. Visiting with Belle, Kristen, and Todd was nice.

 I did not fish on this rainy cool/cold day. I was tired and after I got the pump working went back to bed in the afternoon. Tried to get up again around 4:30, but was back in bed again soon. Mom got pizza from the corner. I finally got up around 7PM. Started re-mastering 2013 at Fish Swami (The year of GOMH). I turned on the Wolves game. Ant had an excellent 2nd half, scored 40 and the Puppies swept the Suns. If the guys can stay healthy, they are title contenders. It would be nice if MN finally had another major professional sports championship. It's been forever

 I could have gone fishing tonight as the rain was light at best, but I decided to watch Day ONe of the NFL Draft and Vikings draft reaction and coverage instead. I am pleased as punch with how things went down.
I think we may have gotten two GEM's.

 It didn't get above freezing. I basically slept all day. This upcoming week's forecast is not a banger.

Platte Lake Access

It got cold last night and only made it to about 42 without much wind. I walked to the Storage Ranch and back, that was about all my legs could take today. I stopped at Bulldog and Rock, which looked similar to yesterday. I also drove North Platte Lake Drive. Platte is slightly more open than yesterday. Dock Guy was at the GOMH so I didn't fish, just chatted. I heard a red-wing blackbird. He didn't get any bites. I think Platte will probably be ice-free by tomorrow night; It is supposed to be in the high to mid 40's and windy out of the SE.

I forgot to take a picture tonight.

 By the time Steve got back with the Equinox from picking up hay it was too late for fishing. We got the Trophy put back in the lake. The 2001 Johnson ran okay. I'm a little concerned that it wasn't spitting water at low speed, though. I'll be headed out in the morning tomorrow. I pray that I will get my money's worth out of the motor repair I had done on this motor. Basically, It will need to work trouble-free for a couple more years for that to be the case.

DNF Or Pull The Trophy Today

 I went to Brainerd instead with the 'rents and got myself a new battery charger at Harbor Freight. Tuma finished in 57th at a tough Watts Bar. I think he actually gained a place in the tournament standings despite not getting a limit and the accompanying loss in weight of a pound and a half fish.

I went to bed at 1AM and didn't get up until after 5:30PM today. That is what my not even that long a day on the water yesterday, almost 9 hours fishing total, took out of me. The temps were fantastic, and I was off the water before 1PM on the first trip.  My complete lack of stamina is one reason why I bowed out of fishing at The Bass Nation State Championship at Leech next week. It's like I aged ten years last winter. I am slowly making some progress on my turtle ways, but if I overextend myself, I pay for it. Yesterday, the cost was more than I figured. Dang, that Bidenflation!

 I got to the lake place at about 6:45, and it seemed like there were more wasps flying around the boat house door than last night. I didn't think to have Dad pick up some spray when he went into Onamia, so I went and did it; Two trips worth. I didn't notice the guy bagged the bottles separately and left without them and had to drive back to get them. I got back from the second trip at about 8:25. So I waited until the wasps turned in for the evening then Steve came down and sprayed where they were getting into the wall above the inside of the garage door. Hopefully, it did the job, but it's possible this may be a multiple-day project.

Camo was inside the life jacket on my chair at the back of the boat when I arrived, but I never saw him again. It could be that he was hanging out on the side of the boat where I couldn't see him or maybe he went on shore leave and will be back. Or maybe we have now parted company and it is on to a new adventure for my little friend.

Did Not Fish!

I was in a food coma from Herman's sandwiches yesterday. Actually, I was dead dog tired and went back to bed after eating chicken for dinner. I'll be out Monday Morning.

 I slept all day. I woke up around 3:30 PM. Put away my Tackle Warehouse order. My energy level never came back up, so I went back to bed by 4:30 PM and slept until dark. The forecast rain never showed.

 In spite of a long restful night of sleep, I felt run down and just didn't feel like hitting the water tonight. The success I had catching fish in the tournament yesterday and the wind today did play a role in my enthusiasm level.

I did use the time off to get my tackle detournamentafide and things back in their proper place.

Overnight into Monday I got my backed-up Fish Swami Notes finished except for tournament day.

 I mowed the lawn, which really needed it.

Todd may be coming up tomorrow. If he does, I'll set a time limit and tell Todd how long I'm giving myself and then have him hold me to it.

 Will not be fishing for a few days so my incision can heal. I did reverse the line on a couple of my frog rods. And three or four of my frog rods, all on SV's I think, will need more/new line soon. I can cast into the backing on all of them right now. Also, with those shallow SV spools, I will now go minimum backing. Don't know why I didn't already know that, but now I do.

 It was my intent to be on the water this morning, but the bed monster got me. I didn't get to tackle prep until later in the afternoon, and then I got frustrated because I couldn't remember what I did with my Dark Sleepers. I took them out of my room this week and put them in a tote downstairs. Just dumb. Didn't get all my tackle prep done. Sheesh, David!
