One Jumpin' Bullhead In Two Trips(3/24/26)

4:30-5:00 PM GOMH SW
6:30-8:30 PM GOMH NE SW
50-54℉, PC Cloudy, 0-6mph ENE

First Trip:
Mom ate a late lunch, so she didn't want pizza until after 5:30, so I took an early trip. Quite a few black and white ducks when I arrived, and some Canadian Geese as well.  Most of the ducks flew away when I opened the tailgate. I didn't get any bites and lost the Mepps Spinner when I got hung up.

Second Trip:
I started on the NE side. Ashley's mom was out playing with Stella. No bites, so I quickly headed to the SW side. After about 25 minutes, I got my only bite of the evening. A 2.5lb jumpin bullhead on the Chatterbait. A couple of Canadians eventually showed up. A few Canadians, swans, and ducks flew around tonight. A couple of ducks stopped briefly. I fished until after dark. I didn't spot anything shining. Stella was out barking at me when I was loading the car and shining. Temps and wind were not bad for how I was dressed. If it had been more windy, I would not have stayed as long as I did.

1st Bullhead of 2026 And Rock Visit(3/22/26)

7:30-8:15 PM GOMH SW
33℉, Cloudy, 5-7mph NW

Grouse on my way to the Rock Access. Also saw an Eagle and red-wings while checking the open water at the PRO in Rock. There was a guy scoping the PRO for coyotes. I realised I forgot to pack my tackle bag, doh! There were 5 ducks on the S side of the GOMH when I arrived. They flew off when I opened the back of the car. I started with the 782 GLX and the Mepps Spinner. On about the 10th cast, it was bullhead on. It came off as I was pulling it on shore. It wriggled back into the water. I didn't make an effort to grab it. It got dark quick. A couple of big Eagles were at Eagle Perch Point. I switched to the Rage Swimmer and got a gator on that as well. The gator had something in its stomach. Two Canadians flew in a honking while I landed the second gator.  I shined but didn't see anything. I was in winter boots, so I didn't do any laps.

One Perch On Sullivan(3/14/26)

No Skunk

12:45-1:15PM Sullivan 28' of Water
30℉, Cloudy, 2-4mph SSE

I forgot to pack a drink. Unloading was a clown show. Got turned around on my way out because I was focused on the  GPS, and it got locked up. I don't think I quite drilled on the 25' Sunnnfish holes. I couldn't get the camera to work or point in the right direction. I caught one perch, said screw it, and walked back. At least I got the pillar in the seat back in place. May or may not be my last trip on the ice this season. Ice was leaking water for the final 10 inches.
